Name generation for a production company.

Name generation for a production Company

So as I have always thought it to be a daunting and difficult task to think of a name for anything. I decided to use the suggested technique of listing words into two separate columns and picking a name at random.

My columns:

Column 1          (Properties)                                              Column 2         (Objects/Places)

•             Hairy

•             Shiny

•             Matt

•             Rusty

•             Bronze

•             Wooden

•             Leafy

•             Bark

•             Leather

•             Stretchy

•             Rough

•             Smooth

•             Neon

•             Pot

•             Plastic

•             Pearl

•             Marble

•             Dusty

•             Cream

•             Fluffy

•             Velvet

•             Woolly

•             Bumpy

•             Ivory

•             Hot

•             Icy

•             Cold

•             Spongy

•             Elastic

•             Reflective

•             Skin

  • Stick
  • Crater
  • Mango
  • Rock
  • Moon
  • Snake
  • Elephant
  • Dog
  • Crossbow
  • Pencil
  • Pen
  • Frame
  • Cel
  • Sloth
  • Dagger
  • Balcony
  • Field
  • Desert
  • Hammer
  • Whip
  • Onion
  • Nugget
  • Clock
  • Ink
  • Reel
  • Box
  • Layer
  • Machine
  • Particle
  • Pixel
  • Bulb

So then I cut out all the words and placed them into two separate envelopes. The results where a bit silly but still ideas. For example; elastic bulb, hairy rock, dusty cel and smooth machine. I decided after pulling out many other random word combinations that I would choose the one that made the most sense ‘Dusty Cel’, it relates to animation and by the time you finally finish a full cel animation chances are your left with dusty cels.

I think that when people hear the name they would relate it with something old, used and untouched, I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not, but considering I prefer traditional animation techniques, it fits sort of well.
