These drawings were short 5-10 minute drawings using charcoal. The idea was to get used to drawing basic sketches in proportion. You can see in the drawing on the left that I have elongated the body quite a bit, so in the second image I took more time to measure out the body and not just zone into small parts at a time and that it would all fit together.
This is one of the tests I did to show the stretch movement of the 12 basic principles of animation. I did this using traditional animation and there are only 10 frames to this animation. I feel I should of exaggerated the movement more to really emphasize the stretch.
This is my first attempt at doing a flip-book animation. I used post-it notes to do this, which turned out to be very beneficial when it came to scanning in the separate frames as I could scan multiple frames at once. I wanted to keep the idea as simple as possible as it was only a test which is why I chose to animate a very simple shaped character taking off his hat.
