sketches of personal references used for ideas and concepts.
This is a drawing of a character I was inspired to draw after looking into a few different artist drawings of women, taking my favorite parts from each of their characters. I then colored the line drawing using watercolors.
I drew out a design sheet of my character, I included some facial expressions, body shots from different angles and a size diagram. This makes animating and using the character easier as I could refer to this if I need to.
I did a few of the same kind of drawings in different poses, I feel like I improved slightly from the first sketch but you can see in these that I am still elongating the torso of the body, so this still needs more practice.
These drawings were short 5-10 minute drawings using charcoal. The idea was to get used to drawing basic sketches in proportion. You can see in the drawing on the left that I have elongated the body quite a bit, so in the second image I took more time to measure out the body and not just zone into small parts at a time and that it would all fit together.
This was a long two hour drawing using pencil, I found that not everything was in proportion and I struggled with aspects of the face, so I knew I needed to develop these certain skills in particular.
